Grady Arth, MS, LPCC
Approach: I believe people will thrive when given the opportunity. I employ a combination of DBT skills and existential therapy to give people the leverage they need to understand themselves better and more effectively practice self-compassion. Attachment is a priority in the work I do; the connection between therapist and client is a foundation for experiencing and practicing the safety needed to figure out who you are and what you want your life to do for you.
I have experience working with people with histories of complex trauma including living with addiction, living as a queer person, and employment with first responder teams, medical environments, and active military. Figuring out how to tell your story so that it does not hurt in the telling is work we can do together.
Hobbies: I love stories, so I spend my time with people, live theater, movies, books, podcasts, as many of the methods humans use to share stories as I can. And a bunch of cats. I am a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and engaging with advocacy is a priority in my life.
Quote: It takes practice to get out of your own way. It doesn’t get easier, you get better at it. And when you do, the world opens up.
